The FEEL of Driven to Drawn
Apr 11, 2022Our driven to drawn panel season has been bringing up some questions around these words. This isn’t exactly about technical definitions but the feeling that can accompany our daily experience. Below is a poem to get at this feeling. It’s a check in.
Right now is a moment to stop and check your pulse.
Look around at where you are in this moment.
Are you feeling more driven or drawn?
Driven is impulse
Drawn is intention
Driven is pressure
Drawn is invitation
Driven is effort
Drawn is grace
Driven is scarcity
Drawn is abundance
Driven feels tight
Drawn feels light
Driven is fight
Drawn is flow
Driven is believing the story that
“I must, I can’t, I’m only, I’m not.”
Drawn is a calm sense of
“I get to,” “I can,” “I will.”
Ask yourself today:
How do I move toward my drawn self?

UPDATE:
After this poem was shared in a newsletter and on our social media, a listener wrote her own poem about this and we thought it was so beautiful we wanted to share it with you all as well!
Here it is.
"Driven by the fear
of all that lies behind
You’re propelled into the mist of the unknown
by your demons behind you
that say you’ll never be good enough
and you can’t let anyone catch you
being the very thing you fought against
You fight with all you have
You run desperately away
Being chased through life
No direction, no goal
Perpetual toil with no reward
The fruit of all you’ve worked for
can’t be found or measured
in the darkness
But your legs push you
until you crash and burn.
But there’s another way–
The hand of hope outstretched
invites you to something greater
Not running from, but to.
With the freedom to walk or wait,
to journey on or soak in the beauty
Your feet follow a clear path
You see your destination ahead,
Always beckoning you forward
Even the smallest steps bring you closer
You participate in becoming
who you already are
as the untrue pieces fall away."
