Healing the Instincts: From Surviving to Thriving
A 4-Week Live Online Class
Wednesdays, October 7–28
90-minute sessions
Your instincts are always at work. They shape what you notice, what gives you energy, what you pursue, what you avoid, and how you respond when life feels uncertain. But most of us have never learned how to work intentionally with them.
Healing the Instincts: From Surviving to Thriving is a four-week experiential class designed to move you beyond simply knowing your instinct stacking and into understanding how your Hunter, Farmer, and Teamer actually function within you.
Over four 90-minute sessions, we will move from noticing our instincts, to understanding how they relate to one another, to recognizing the parts of ourselves we learned to exile, and finally to reintegrating those parts into a healthier and more whole way of living.
This isn't about changing your instinct stacking. It's about developing a healthier relationship with all three of your natural energies so that your instincts become resources for living rather than unconscious patterns that run your life.
Session 1: Developing a Working Relationship with Your Hunter, Farmer, and Teamer
We begin by learning to recognize each instinct as it shows up in everyday life.
Rather than immediately analyzing your stacking, you'll learn to notice the distinct energy of your Hunter, Farmer, and Teamer. What activates each one? What does each instinct naturally contribute? Which feels familiar and easy to access, and which feels more distant?
The goal is to begin developing a conscious, working relationship with all three.
Session 2: Following the Reward: What Your Instincts Teach You to Notice
Our dominant instinct doesn't simply influence what we do. It influences what captures our attention and what feels rewarding.
In this session, we'll explore how your instincts have trained you to notice certain things while overlooking others. You'll begin identifying the rewards that keep your dominant instinct engaged, the different role played by your secondary instinct, and why your tertiary instinct can feel less urgent or necessary.
Understanding this reward system helps explain why we keep returning to certain patterns, even when those patterns are no longer serving us.
Session 3: Discovering the Meaning of Your Instinct Stacking, Part 1: How We Learned to Use Our Instincts
Your instinct stacking tells a story.
Over time, we learned that certain instinctual energies were more useful, rewarding, or safe than others. We relied on some parts of ourselves while minimizing, avoiding, or even exiling others.
In this session, we'll explore how your instincts came to relate to one another. You'll begin recognizing how your dominant and secondary instincts learned to work together, what they have been trying to accomplish for you, and what may have been pushed aside in the process.
Rather than seeing your stacking simply as a personality description, you'll begin understanding it as an adaptation with a history.
Session 4: Discovering the Meaning of Your Instinct Stacking, Part 2: Integration and Insight
The final movement is reintegration.
Once we understand what our instincts have been doing for us, we can begin recovering the energies and capacities we've neglected or exiled. Instead of allowing our dominant instinct to carry so much of the burden, we learn how all three instincts can contribute.
Through teaching, reflection, coaching, and group exercises, we'll explore what it means for your Hunter, Farmer, and Teamer to work together rather than compete with or compensate for one another.
The goal is not perfect balance. It is greater freedom, flexibility, and wholeness.
Notice how your instincts function. Understand how they relate. Discover what you've exiled. Learn how to bring it back.
That's the movement from surviving to thriving.
